Relevant Experience: Steve Maggio is an industry leader who has provided integrated media fundraising and marketing strategy, creative direction, copy and design for more than 200 non-profits and commercial organizations in his 25-year career.

Currently, Steve works with large national organizations, such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Disabled American Veterans, as well as Trout Unlimited, Team Hole in the Wall and Holy Cross Family Ministries. For the past several years, Steve has worked with major medical centers at the University of Southern California, Dartmouth College, and the University of Massachusetts, plus regional food banks, hospitals and homeless shelters. Most recently, DaVinci Direct has assumed responsibility for the fundraising programs of The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Bridgewater State College.

Steve began his career in general advertising, where he built a foundation of knowledge in branding and print, TV and radio advertising in the high technology, financial and retail sectors. He switched to a fundraising career with Hub Mail Advertising in Boston, working on Easter Seals, United States Olympic Committee and several Humane Societies and Public Television accounts.

Steve then received what he calls his “Fundraising Doctorate” during his 11-year tenure at Epsilon, serving as Senior Creative Director on accounts such as the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, Paralyzed Veterans of America, National Jewish Medical and Research Center, American Red Cross, Save the Children, UNICEF, Mercy Home, Ducks Unlimited, and several Catholic Dioceses and Archdioceses.

After Epsilon, Steve was a Senior Partner and Sr. Vice President/ Creative Director at another large national agency, where, for five years, he continued to specialize in Health and Veterans accounts, while adding international relief work for Plan USA and social services fundraising for Catholic Charities of Boston.

In addition, he helped Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center create, brand and build a special event fundraising program based on the New York City Marathon. Steve helped MSKCC’s “Fred’s Team” experience 13 years of growth through an integrated multi-media campaign of print advertising, direct mail, posters and the Web.

Steve Co-Founded DaVinci Direct in May 2005.

Industry Highlights: Steve’s creative teams have won more than 100 local, national and international awards for creative excellence, such as DMA ECHO and DMAW MAXI Awards, DMFA Package of the Year, and several New England Direct Marketing Association Awards, including Best of Show. Steve has also written many articles for industry publications and websites.

Recently, Steve was appointed to the Direct Marketing Association Nonprofit Federation (DMANF) Advisory Council and is involved in that capacity in key issues and decisions affecting the industry. The DMANF is the premier association for nonprofit organizations that use direct marketing media such as mail, telephone, and the Internet to communicate with donors, members and the public, and is the 'top brand' among all associations and advocacy groups working on behalf of nonprofits.

The DMANF's Advisory Council is the governing body responsible for providing direction, policy and leadership for the organization. In 2008, Steve was appointed Chair of the DMANF Conference Marketing Subcommittee and also serves on the Nominating Committee.

An experienced and engaging speaker on creative, Steve has made numerous presentations at industry conferences of the Direct Marketing Association, Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association and the National Catholic Development Conference, among others. Currently he is scheduled to speak at a meeting of the Boston DMFA in October 2008 and at the DMANF Nonprofit Federation’s Washington, D.C. Conference in January 2009.
